I did a very simple remaster of both 32 and 64 bit live CD's. Both have been upgraded to Xorg 7.3 from the Lenny repository. I removed the contents of the /etc/share/doc folder, since the CD grew larger than 700mb and something had to go. They are now about 640mb. They are otherwise totally stock CD's.
Why? I had bought some new hardware a while back, including a good graphics card but Mepis would not boot and it was complicated for me (at that time) to fix. My hope is to possibly help those who may be facing a similar issue. This may help with older and/or newer computers. If the official Mepis live CD does not work for you, you may want to try one of these. Please seed after downloading, as I have no server and my computer does get turned off from time to time. To download, just click on the appropriate (32 or 64 bit) link in my signature. And as always, use at your own risk. I have tested both of them and found no bugs. Please email me or post here if you find any bugs. :) EDIT: There is one repository available on these CD's that has potential to do harm to a stable system if an upgrade is done incorrectly. Specifically, the Lenny repository is still in Synaptic. To remove this repository so there is no chance of destabilizing your system using the Lenny repo: 1. Open Synaptic 2. Open the "Settings" drop down menu in the upper left hand corner of Synaptic, and select "Repositories". 3. This will open a small windows with a list of repositories. Scroll down, look in the "Distribution" column for "lenny". 4. Click on the Lenny repository line (highlighting it in blue), then simply click on the "Delete" button-with the trash can icon. 5. Now you can close that small window, and click on the green, circular icon in the upper left hand corner to reload package information. Now you're safe. And if you want all of the files for /usr/share/doc back. All you have to do is download them and extract them with ark. Easy. There are four pieces. Hmmmm.....I'm not sure how that could be......I went to pirate bay....it said there were no seeders/leachers but I have 1 to 3 computers seeding 24hours a day just for people to download......yet, when I ignore the pirate bay listing and download the torrent to my wifes computer it works just fine.....If you wake up tomorrow and no torrent, let me know. Or let me know either way if you could. Sorry for then inconvenience.
By the way, what bittorrent are you using? I use Azureus and love it. I had serious issues with BitTorrent. It just didn't work with perfectly good torrents. *Could anyone else test the availability of this torrent? Last edited by NoobJason : 05-24-2008 at 11:14 AM. |

The 32-bit shows 4 peers, no seeds, the 64-bit shows 2 peers, no seeds on my Deluge screen. This is at about 17:00 hrs UTC on Saturday.
