Yep!
I've got about 6% of it, and it's coming in at 16-20 KiB/s. ET of completion about 8 hours. Should we just stay with this torrent since it's working [assuming I'm able to seed it once I'm done leeching?] Or do you want me to start another one on LinuxTracker? Or should we just wait and see how it goes in 8 hours?

Sorry Jason,
I just downloaded the torrent file from piratebay, and after dragging it into KTorrent, it shows me stalled at 0 bytes downloaded. The linuxtracker torrent worked fine.

Well, with Debian Lenny not scheduled to go stable until at least September, your ISO's should fill a niche! And Debian releases are often delayed...

SilverBear, lets see where we are in 8hours. This whole thing has been so unpredictable....I just don't know what will happen next. How do feel about snail mail??? Hahaha! At least something is kinda' working.
Occam, I think that may have been a temporary dip. I noticed that when I turned on my laptop, Azureus showed a problem on my desktop.......So I'll just seed from one computer from now on. Perhaps having multiple computers connected to my wireless was messing with the torrent process. I restarted Azureus, so that may have been the dip. Try a little more, hahahaha. Yeah, I'm going crazy. Also, have you successfully used Ktorrent before? I just ask cus' if it's not set up right you might now get anything. And whatever PirateBay says for seeds and leechers, don't trust it. They seem to reflect a certain point in time but not necessarily the current moment. At least that has been my experience. Good stuff. And thanks Stevo. I hope so. I also got my NBJX64-B1 torrent back up and running. It's seeding at about 30kb/s. For all of this messing around with massive iso files, a simple delta measures in at a tiny 55.7Mb, much better than a massive 645Mb monster download across a normally reliable, but this time not so torrent.
How about I upload it to my website and you can do with it what you wish from there, as I recommended in my earlier post. It should be easy enough to provide instructions on how to patch a 32-bit iso or to even make a script that will do it for the users. We could zip the file, include the script and it will be done within moments, not hours, or days like it was for me to dl the 32-bit torrent. All the user would have to do is to install xdelta if they haven't got it already and make sure they have an original iso handy and symlinked to, or in the same location as the delta, then run the script, or type the command. Sure m_pav. If you want to do the work that's a great alternative to the super long download time and torrent madness. I still feel like the full iso should be offered but the xdelta could be sitting right next to it with links and instructions. Trust me, I want less headache more than anyone. I'll test anything you put together. Let me know when you get it done.
Are you going to create the binary delta from your own remaster or mine? If you want to do it all from your side it wouldn't be hard. I'm quite sure it would not be hard for you. And would save you the headache of downloading the 64bit torrent if you were planning on doing 64bit as well. Plus, I've never done a binary delta so maybe you could start another thread and include some kind of tutorial or even links to another tutorial. I'd like to learn how to do it just for fun. Mepis64-7.3-Xorg.iso came through completely overnight.
I now see 5 seeders and 2 leechers: one in Argentina and one in Boise, Idaho, USA. |

Mepis32-Xorg7.3 -experimental 32-bit is downloading fine for me on LinuxTracker.org using azureus (I had problems with KTorrent - probably finger trouble). 12 seeds here, and I'll continue seeding it. Greg

Mepis32-Xorg7.3 -experimental 32-bit & Mepis64-7.3-Xorg are downloading this morning, I was down overnight.
I will upgrade to 0.5.9.1 after the downloads are complete. I will try to continue seeding after the upgrade... JR |

Overnight the 64-bit torrent from Piratebay downloaded, and automatically went to seeding mode. I'm seeing 6 seeds including myself, and 2 leeches, although neither is connected to me at the moment.
Unless someone else is having an insurmountable problem, it seems to me that the 64-bit piratebay torrent swarm is well-established, and we don't need to compete with it by starting another one at Linuxtracker. I like Mike's idea of having the Delta file available! That's even more practical and internet-friendly than bit-torrent. NoobJason is correct, though, that the full ISO's need to be there for folks who need/want them. Mike: how about after you get the Delta files [or files and scripts, however you decide to do it] uploaded to your server, let me know. I can start torrents for those at LinuxTracker so your server isn't having to do more than necessary. |
