Yes, there's the error--you need to create a firefox-3.6.3 folder inside Build1 and place the tarball and the /debian folder in that folder. Also you have to change all mentions of 1.9.1 in the files in /debian to 1.9.2, or you will get a failure.

Maybe the issue:
Quote:
# Add here commands to configure the package
tar xjvf firefox*.tar.bz2
tar: firefox*.tar.bz2: Cannot open: No such file or directory
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
tar: Child returned status 2

Yep thanks erie

Could be a lot of different settings. I need to get my head inside the control and rules file on the new version to see what's going on. A job for tonight when the kids are in bed

Sometimes the patches (that are in the debian/patches folder) that were necessary for a previous version of source are no longer needed with a newer version of the source code.

Also changes in the new version of the source code/files can change the location where a patch is to be applied.

Brooko, take a look at this Firefox 3.6 deb.http://skyzim.com/downloads/
I have installed it in a Mepis live CD as well as a 4.4 netbook
so far all is well, (I did remove Firefox on the live CD first).

Thanks John. Unfortunately I need the source to see how he builds it - otherwise it's no use for the CR.

It's OK though - I know I can build a later FF single deb using my 'old' formula.

Thanks for the link though.
