I just installed FF2.0.0.1 and TB1.5.0.9 from the firefox website. I put both in /usr/local/ and they run fine.
![]() The only thing I miss from the deb versions is the ability to click a link inside an email and have FF open a window at the url. I think I saw somewhere around here a way to link TB to FF in TB's config file. But I can't find it and naturally have forgotten how. :P I don't always write this stuff down and keep it handy! :-[ Thanks for any help here. Merry Christmas to all!! ;D T |

In your Thunderbird profile there is a file called prefs.js add these lines:
user_pref("network.protocol-handler.app.ftp", "/home/frank/firefox/firefox"); user_pref("network.protocol-handler.app.http", "/home/frank/firefox/firefox"); user_pref("network.protocol-handler.app.https", "/home/frank/firefox/firefox"); Of course you have to modify the path to Firefox to suit you installation. ;D and you might want to put this one in your Firefox prefs.js file: user_pref("network.protocol-handler.app.mailto","/home/frank/thunderbird/thunderbird/"); For both, save & close user.js, restart Firefox/Thunderbird. |

Thanks, that did it!
Somehow, in my trying to get this to work previously, I apparently did something to Konqueror? When I first logon, KDE gives the error mesg 'Could not find mime type application/octet stream', and when I click on the ok button, it shows the KDE crash-handler and says that Konqueror crashed and caused signal 6. ??? How do I fix this problem, apparently of my own doing? :-[ Is it possible to reinstall Konqueror and would this fix it? This problem is also reproduced when I try to access System Configuration. It crashes and I can't get there. Do I have to reinstall Mepis? Help! T |

The simplest thing would be to uninstall Konqueror and then reinstall. System Configuration is accessed through Konqueror so if this fixes Konqueror, System configuration will probably start working again.
