Default antiX

Here is a quick look at what antiX based on Mepis 6.5 looks like.
There will be a cleaner fluxbox menu for the finished version.
Not sure whether antiX should default to a rox-desktop or not

or to have conky showing various stats, but no desktop icons.

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX "Marek Edelman", "Tȟašúŋke Witkó", "Intifada!", "Toussaint Louverture", "VETËVENDOSJE!", "Lysistrata" and "Spartacus" - all lean and mean.

Cool - been wondering how this one has been going - where is 'AntiX' at dev wise now?
...and what no blue colours? - or is this project completely 'autonomous' from Mepis? And is the name Anti-X or AnTiX? - Anti-X sounds like a campaign group who don't like X!!

Thumbs up RE: AntiX

I like both images but the first one I think I like a bit better. Can it be set up with shortcut icons on a panel like kde can? Not that it will make a diff. I still would like to try it. Can't hardly wait actually.

I just picked up a 560Z thinkpad 300 mhz cpu P2 96 mb ram (maxed out). The perfect laptop to install antiX Mepis on. Old hardware that was dieing, breathed back to life by anticapitalista, and seeing still a few more useful days ahead.

I would leave conky on by default, as most folks will want it at first. Though thats a nice feature you built into antiX the ability to turn off conky on the menu.

Anticapitalista has a really slick wallpaper changer built into the menu. Which will give you that color. I had the advantage over you of beta testing earilier releases.

As far as tranparency in the the menu, thats fine unless its hurts the speed of the system. As this is the Lighter OS compared to the old MepisLite, and therefore designed to run on really old hardware. antiX is almost an ultralite, I think it would be with the addition of an 2.4 kernel. However, I find it more usefull as a Mepis User, than say DSL, a fine ultraLite distro.

I would state that any distro without KDE or Gnome, will have a slightly higher learning curve to use at first. Although there are a lot of refinements in antiX.

Nice to see Mepis ulitities added to the menu, another refinement.

Hi, anticapitalista.

This is the first I'm hearing of this project. It looks good from what I can see. If you want another tester, let me know.

I have to agree about the name though. Not only does a quick search show that there is a Death-Metal band in the USA by that name, it's also a spyware worm spread through chatroom software.

The dialectical analysis of these objective conditions is confusing.

Is this the first time an "anti-thesis" has generated a thesis, instead of the other way around?

I must wire the Kremlin for instructions. . .
