Default News - OS-Prober added to Mepis Downloads

In addition to new updates for Amarok, Warren seems to have put out some new files for Mepis System and Mepis Install that are now linked to OS-Prober.

Why do I get the feeling that Warren is working around the Vista boot problems? Why am I suddenly happy that he might be doing so?

He is.

All Vista users dual-booting with Mepis should see their installation problems solved and see their Vista partition in Grub menu.
Now the question is: are there Vista users round here? Kinda non-appearing specie or what ?

Run a search on dual boot vista, enough comes up.

Let's hope things will be sorted now for the vista DBers :)

well, in my case of trying to do "everything"... it would be nice to be able to turn the current Vista test system back into a dual boot.

Warren did ask some people to test the functionality of this updated Mepis-system package (which uses the all new os-prober package now).
Indeed aimed at recognizing and adding a Vista boot-entry into the menu. But no one actually used Vista.

So, If you can test it, please do and inform Warren

Regards, ko

Not a non-appearing species, when you buy a new laptop like I just did, Vista is preloaded, I don't know about others, but for myself, I want the ability to dual boot because Mepis doesn't see my second gen iPod. It sees my 1st gen iPod shuffle and 1st gen nano, but like I said the new 4 gig nano is not seen, this is not just a thing with mepis though, on my desktop I have suse and fedora loaded, neither of those see the new iPod either.

So for me, the ability to dual boot is needed and appreciated..
