This is what I have seen from the LiveCD (will install soon) -
Have the login screen show demo and root password? (I know this was mentioned in a couple of reviews).

Trash shows it has something in it. Going in looks like it is empty. After saying empty trash, it looks empty now.

Amarok tray icon too similar to Volume control (Mixer).

On the plus side, I really like the new Desktop settings wizard, very nice. I have noticed a few name changes to some things, like the Control Center (again another issue some reviewers had before).

Well downloaded and burned to CD, stuck it in a 1.1ghz 512mb (496mb after onboard video memory taken out) PC.

Booted live CD took quite a while to boot to login screen but once logged in it had found everything (not that there is anything special\odd on that particular PC). Had a couple of KDE Multimedia errors pop up but thats all.

Need to find a box to install it on and play...............in fact finding a box is not a problem, finding somewhere to the box is the problem (currently have 5 PC and 2 laptops in one small room)

On my daughter's Toshiba M115-S3154 notebook, it booted well, and there is a very pleasant surprise - wireless works very well. Splashy is pretty cool, too. The reason Mepis isn't installed on this computer is because sound didn't work. Unfortunately, sound is an issue here, too. I think I'll e-mail Warren to let him know. Other than sound, this really does look good.

This is already looking quite promising.

The Dell E1505N with the Intel Core 2 Duo won't boot the 64 bit. It says "Your CPU does not support long mode. Use a 32bit distribution." I'll give it a try on the Sempron64 box and see how that goes.

Booted ok (no splashy) on the Sempron64. I'll install it on my SM64 6.5 partion later tonight and get around to some serious testing.

Installed the 32bit on my Athlon 2500.. so far no problems. Looks like Debian, even the funky font on web pages. Music working. Samba working. I downloaded the 64bit for the AMD4000 but no more blank CD's. Let the fun begin.

Booted LiveCD on an older PC some display (mouse) issues, retried it with vesa and that went ok.
Had a longish 20 second delay on NIC (irq 5) and again with dhcpdiscover on eth* during boot-up.
Tried to configure the Monitor with Mepis X-Windows Assistant but after selecting HP
the models drop-down box was blank - stuck with 60hz - screen res changing went ok.
Guarddog (enabling, as root) gave a permission denied.

Some minor quirks on CLI - i.e. fdisk -l, as demo, gave a command not found -
whereis gave /sbin (not in $PATH)
fdisk -l , as root, shows hda and hdb now recognised as sda and sdb and cdrom(s) went from hdc and hdd to scd0 and sr1
- strange, mepis has always seen this PC as hda~d before, IIRC.
ll wasn't an alias for ls -al anymore... etc.
Xorg seems to be back to 7.0.
Less network services running - no smb/nmb and inetd by default now, but avahi-daemon is running.
Sound ok, fonts (sizes) a little off in places- firefox etc.
Good first impression - need to install (and test) it to get a better feel.

After the CD boots it is unable to find the CD drive, it is a normal IDE drive on a Intel 945 MOBO, is there a workaround?

Replacing the cd drive with another brand drive solved this problem.

Installed ok on my Toshiba Satellite, wifi RT2500 is not working, no driver installed, this is not good, as wireless is needed for my laptop. I guess this is a nice start, I do hope things get fixed so this OS will be usable. Nice start.

RT2500 problem has been fixed.
